APPIC Member Policy for Legal & Ethical Conduct

  1. APPIC member programs conform to the ethical requirements of the profession as set forth in the current APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct, and/or the Canadian Code of Ethics for Psychologists.

  2. APPIC member programs adhere to all applicable laws and regulations of their jurisdiction, including applicable licensure/regulatory board rules and regulations.

  3. APPIC member programs are expected to demonstrate high regard for human freedom, equity, dignity, and rights by ensuring all trainees and faculty/staff are treated with courtesy and respect. Dehumanizing practices or other restrictions on the exercise of civil and human rights in any part of the activities of APPIC member programs is unacceptable.

  4. APPIC member programs must have and maintain practices and documentation of their nondiscriminatory policies indicating that the program and its organization does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of age, ancestry, disability, national or ethnic origin, race, color, religious belief, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, family status, political belief, veteran or military status, or any other category that is not relevant to success in graduate training and/or the profession.
