Statistics for Applicants from Canadian Schools and Programs in Canada

The number of applicants from Canadian schools who registered for the APPIC Match this year increased by 34 (19%) to 213, while the number of positions in Canada increased by 18 (14%) to 150. A total of 133 applicants from Canadian schools were matched to an internship position, while 50 applicants were not matched and another 30 withdrew from Phase I or did not submit a Rank Order List. Nine positions in Canada remained unfilled from Phase I.
Four years ago, in the 2008 APPIC Match, the number of internship positions available in Canada (127) exceeded the number of applicants from Canadian schools (120) who registered for the Match. Since that time, the number of registered applicants from Canadian schools increased by 78% (120 to 213) while the number of internship positions in Canadian programs increased by 18% (127 to 150).
