2020 APPIC Match Statistics - Phase II

This report provides statistics and information about Phase II of the 2020 APPIC Match and the submission of applications via the AAPI Online service in Phase II.
OVERVIEW OF PHASE II
As compared to last year, there was an increase in the number of students who were registered for and eligible to participate in Phase II (660 vs. 610 last year, up 8%) and the number of positions available in Phase II (642 vs. 620 last year, up 4%).
A total of 381 students matched to internship positions in Phase II, while 105 remained unmatched and 174 withdrew or did not submit rankings. A total of 261 positions remained unfilled at the conclusion of Phase II.

With regard to the accreditation status of the internship programs that participated in Phase II:
- A total of 114 accredited positions remained available after Phase II, as compared to 79 last year and 10 in 2015.
- 86% of applicants who were matched in Phase II were placed in accredited internship positions, as compared to 84% last year and 35% in 2015.
- 69% of positions in Phase II were in accredited programs, as compared to 57% last year and 29% in 2015.
- 74% of positions in accredited programs in Phase II were filled, as compared to 78% last year and 88% in 2015.
- 27% of the positions in non-accredited internship programs in Phase II were filled, as compared to 20% last year and 68% in 2015.
