You will be expected to work in a bureaucratic environment that is driven by policy. You will also need to feel comfortable working independently and being tested immediately by patients. PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED.
The Psychology Internship Program at the Henry Ford Health Sciences Center is offering an additional internship slot supported by a HRSA grant awarded this past week. The intern will start as soon after July 1, 2013 as can be arranged.
This is part of our HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY track and will consist of three rotations: Emergency Medicine, Trauma Surgery, and inpatient Cardiac care. The intern will be part of an effort to reduce inappropriate admissions or re-admissions by providing timely psychological consultation and intervention and contribute the results of such consultation to the patient’s discharge planning. This particular internship opportunity has little to no focus on more traditional outpatient mental health and is really suitable for an individual who hopes for a career in a medical setting providing care to those admitted primarily for medical diagnoses. The intern will do bedside and emergency room evaluations, confer with other care providers, write consultations, and provide some brief interventions. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interest in working with the medically ill and have had some experience with such a population.
The intern will participate with the other six interns (three health psychology and three neuropsychology interns) in our extensive didactic offerings including a weekly group supervision and departmental grand rounds. The stipend is $22,032 per year plus benefits. Historically our interns go on to highly competitive post-doctoral fellowships in their particular subfields.

unique to this site, we also work with people who are going through infertility
treatments and people who are starting hormone replacement therapy for a gender
transition.

Department of Education to obtain Certification as a School Psychologist, but intern
will be able to obtain Emergency Certification if he/she does not meet all the

The
“Psychologists in Training” internship program incorporates the
Scientist-Practitioner model. This approach to clinical practice with
children, adolescents, and young adults follows training that is developmental
and sequential in its organization. The Newark Public Schools Office of
Special Education offers a rich and comprehensive educational experience for
intern psychologists due to the diversity of the students and range of disabilities
for whom the district provides services. The Newark School District, with
a student population of 42,000, is the largest and one of the oldest school
systems in New Jersey. The district continues to revise its services to meet
the changing needs of its students. There are approximately 60 psychologists in
the Office of Special Education. The psychologists are based in the
schools, which affords easier access to students, parents, teachers and
administrators. While assessment remains an important function, the
psychologists have expanded their roles to include prevention, consultation,
counseling, and intervention activities each with a child-centered focus.
Opportunities to develop skills such as social skills training,
behavioral interventions in the classroom, crisis and short term
counseling, and intensive planning to address the mental health and educational
needs of students are integral to the program. Students will have a three
day assignment in one elementary setting and have rotations with emotionally
disturbed, autistic, pre-school and other specialty populations. Stipend is $25,000/12 months starting September 1, 2013.
Medical benefits are provided.
Submit applications to Dr. Sperber-Weiss. Please submit a cover

Immediate Behavioral Medicine Openings: 2 predoctoral internship positions
Columbia Valley Community Health (CVCH) is a busy Primary Care Clinic with 19 Primary Care Providers (PCPs) at three sites. Patients are referred to Behavioral Medicine Consultants (BMC)/Interns through PCP referrals. The integrated model of care is collaborative between PCP and BMed. Interns are considered part of the medical team and participate in provider meetings and are frequently sought after for their expertise. Patients with all levels of need are seen on a daily basis and preferably at their time of need. The Department of Behavioral Medicine was designed to allow PCPs to contact the BMC when a patient issue arises. This can be a simple meet and greet or helping patients deal with more complex types of issues (new diagnosis, diabetes, asthma, panic, depression, pain, etc.). The focus is on whatever the patient presents with that is impairing their function or their ability to be compliant with medical recommendations.
Applicants should be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment that can change throughout the day and have an interest in Health Psychology. Stipend is $25,000 for twelve months of 40 hours a week; other benefits such as medical, dental, and vacation are listed on the website http://www.cvch.org/behavioral-medicine/
The CVCH Behavioral Medicine Internship requires that eligible intern applicants be capable of being licensed at the Master’s level in Washington State at the start of internship. This requires a minimum of 3000 supervised hours post Master’s.
Eligible applicants meeting the requirements should send a COVER LETTER and AAPI to bmedinternship@cvch.org . Three letters of reference should be available prior to an offer being given to an applicant with one letter from your training director. We will continue to receive applications until the 2 positions have been filled. Candidates must be available to start no later than August 1st, 2013. Applicants that we are interested in will be contacted for a phone interview and select candidates invited for a group Skype interview.

The Clinical Psychology Internship Program at the University of Vermont is a new program. We recently applied for APPIC membership and expect to hear the results in April 2013. Additionally, we had an APA site visit (November, 2012) and are awaiting information regarding our accreditation status. The internship is located in Burlington, Vermont, within the Behavior Therapy and Psychotherapy Center (BTPC; housed in the Psychology Department at UVM) and the Vermont Center for Children, Youth and Families (VCCYF; housed in the Division of Child Psychiatry at UVM). All interns will train in both programs, working at both sites throughout the internship year and engaging in clinical work and research.
The focus of intern training at the BTPC is with the Connecting Cultures Specialty Service, providing culturally competent evidence-based treatment to torture survivors and refugee populations from over 25 countries. Interns in the Connecting Cultures Specialty Service also engage in multi-disciplinary services with providers including social workers, teachers, lawyers, and refugee advocates. In addition to direct clinical services, the Connecting Cultures program offers outreach services, presentations and evaluation/research opportunities. Connecting Cultures is also a component of the New England Survivors of Torture and Trauma (NESTT) program.
The VCCYF specializes in the application of evidence-based strategies from the family perspective, addressing both child and parental emotional and behavioral problems. Through the use of health promotion, prevention, and intervention, the VCCYF uses the Vermont Family Based Approach to help the well remain well, prevent at-risk children from developing emotional and behavioral problems, and intervene comprehensively on behalf of children and families challenged by psychopathology. At the VCCYF, interns will collaborate with professionals in psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing, and genetics.
We currently have two interns placed in the Clinical Psychology Internship Program at the University of Vermont (CPIP at UVM). Although we are pursuing membership, the CPIP at UVM is not an APPIC Member and there is no guarantee that the program will ultimately be successful in attaining APPIC membership. Similarly, we had an APA site visit in November 2012 but we are not accredited and there is no guarantee that we will ultimately be successful in attaining APA accreditation.
