POSTED December 2015: APPIC, with the support of APA’s Education Directorate, is pleased to announce it will be hosting a Postdoctoral Psychology Training Summit immediately following the 2016 APPIC membership conference in New Orleans. The Summit begins on Saturday, May 28th at noon and ends on Sunday, May 29th at 5pm. Postdoctoral training, although a critical component in the sequence of psychology training, has evolved in the absence of any organizing structure. APPIC believes the time is right to bring together major stakeholders to develop roadmaps that address the crucial issues in postdoctoral training for the betterment of programs, trainees and the public. This Summit is a seminal step towards increased cohesion, collaboration, and communication across the postdoctoral landscape.
The Summit will have approximately 30 invited participants and up to 10 additional self-nominated and self-funded participants from a range of backgrounds representing diverse perspectives. Self-nominated individuals should have a strong background and investment in postdoctoral training.
In addition, APPIC would like to ensure trainee perspectives are represented at the Summit. Thus, APPIC is inviting self-nominated applications from current postdoctoral trainees. APPIC will fund travel expenses for three postdoctoral participants (up to $1,000).
To be considered for the self-funded positions or the funded postdoctoral positions, please click on the following link and provide the requested information: https://www.appic.org/Forms/APPIC-APA-PostDoc-Summit-Application
Applications are due by January 31, 2016. Application decisions will be made by February 29, 2016.
For questions about the application process, contact Allison Aosved, Ph.D. Allison.Aosved2@va.gov APPIC Board Member and Summit Co-chair.
