The Center for Pediatric Psychiatry at Children’s HealthSM in Dallas, Texas invites applicants for its APA-accredited Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Child Psychology beginning late August, 2024. Six positions will be available within the Pediatric Health Psychology, Outpatient, or Eating Disorders concentrations:

Pediatric Health Psychology Concentration (3 positions total)

Pediatric health psychology/consult-liaison (2 positions)

  • Specialized training experience in pediatric health psychology tailored to fellows’ interests. Flexible rotation selection offers opportunities for breadth of experience, as well as specialization with populations of interest through major rotations (e.g., Oncology, Solid Organ Transplant, Gastroenterology, and others as determined by fellows’ interests and availability).
  • Assessment, intervention, and consultation/liaison (C/L) services on inpatient medical floors and in ambulatory medical clinics with numerous rotation options, including:
    • Cardiology
    • Craniofacial/Plastic Surgery
    • Cystic Fibrosis
    • Epilepsy
    • Gastroenterology
    • Hematology/Sickle Cell
    • Oncology
    • Infant Mental Health
    • Pain Management
    • Sleep Medicine
    • Solid Organ Transplant
    • Weight Management/Bariatric Surgery
  • Fellows in these positions obtain C/L experience throughout the year, with no weekend/evening call.

Foster care position (1 position)

  • Position based in Rees-Jones Center for Foster Care Excellence at Children’s, which serves as primary care provider for children in foster care system
    • Specialization in trauma informed integrated primary care, with opportunities for multidisciplinary assessment, intervention, consultation, and psychoeducation services
    • Focused intervention experience in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
    • Trauma informed psychological and developmental assessment
  • Fellows may have opportunities to collaborate on and receive mentorship related to mental health policy and community outreach initiatives
  • Clinical care will be based out of Dallas and Plano clinics

Fellows receive a comprehensive benefits package, which includes Paid Time Off (at an accrual rate of 7.7 hours/biweekly pay period, or approximately 25 days/year), as well as health insurance, prescription coverage, vision and dental insurance, and retirement savings plans. In addition to regular Paid Time Off, fellows are eligible for up to 10 paid education days per year for conferences, job interviews, taking the EPPP, and other professionally relevant activities. Children’s covers the cost of premiums for basic life insurance, basic AD&D coverage, and short and long-term disability insurance, and matches employee dependent care savings contributions at 25%, up to $1000/year. Fellows are also eligible for other employee savings programs, including discounts on services and products and subsidized regional public transit passes. Children’s covers the cost of professional liability insurance for psychology fellows.
Research opportunities
Opportunities are available for postdoctoral fellows to be involved in program development and research through fellow-directed project integrated into professional development programming.

The Postdoctoral Fellowship Training Program in Clinical Child Psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
